Crayons.

I used to categorize them by what I imagined their personality was due to their color. I would play with forks and spoons. I was always attracted to the shape of a spoon, it was always my favorite. Don’t get my wrong I had toys like other kids, but I liked my imagination best.

As a teenager, I started taking photos and putting together collages. I would use any camera I could get my hands on, although secretly I longed for a Polaroid.

I bought myself a panoramic camera while in university where I was studying psychology. People started to tell me that my pictures looked liked postcards. For my birthday someone bought me my first SLR. It wasn’t as easy to use as a point and click so I decided to take a class. I loved the smell of the darkroom so much I changed my degree. Okay well, I loved art so much I changed my degree.

I started to realize that while other girls I knew were buying pretty things, I found myself wanting to make pretty things.

In digital photography classes I began to work with computer programs that not only let you manipulate photos, but create wonderful graphics. My love for art began to grow into different fields.

I photographed my first wedding while still in university. I loved it! There is nothing like it. Being around someone on the day they have planned for so long and put so much hard work into. It’s when you see raw emotion. You can see the love, and nervousness, or the “I have waited for so long for this day to happen” look in their face.

I have seen many types and styles of weddings and I never cease to get that thrill when I wake up the morning of the big day thinking about the how the bride feels. Did she sleep? Did she remember to eat? I love my job. I have since grown my business into designing wedding invitations. It’s all in the detail. How each little piece the couple has chose reflects who they are and what they want to be together. It’s fabulous.

Did I mention I love my job?!
